About Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania

Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania (GSHPA), a United Way partner agency, was formed on May 1, 2007 through the merger of Hemlock (Harrisburg), Penn Laurel (York), Penn’s Woods (Wilkes-Barre) and Scranton Pocono (Scranton) Girl Scout councils. Headquartered in Harrisburg, the council serves girls and adults in northeastern and central Pennsylvania through staff in eight regional, community based service centers.

About Girl Scouts

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls with three million girl and adult members. Girl Scouting is the leading authority on girls' healthy development, and builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. The organization serves girls from every corner of the United States and its territories. Girls Scouts of the USA also serves American girls and their classmates attending American or international schools overseas in 90 countries.
